St. John the
Evangelist Catholic Church is the only Catholic Church in
Valdosta. Our Parish officially began in 1936 with approximately
40 families. By the mid-1970s St. John's had grown to
approximately 500 families. As we enter the 3rd millennium, St.
John's encompasses three counties with a membership of over
1,000 families. It is fairly clear that God has blessed us with
tremendous growth! St. John the Evangelist is part of the
Savannah Diocese and is the nearest Parish to the Florida line.
Mission
The Catholic
Community of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, united in
the love of God, comes together to worship the Father, Son and
Holy Spirit;
to provide for the spiritual growth of each member;to minister to each other's needs; to make ourselves a neighbor
to all; to renew ourselves in the Faith and
to share in the
richness of our experience of Jesus Christ. We, the Parish
Family, aware of the Christian call to be the Good News,
accomplish this mission through liturgy, education, service and
personal example.
